Thank the Lord Almighty that summer is finally here!!! The last couple of weeks have been heavenly!! The kids have been outside constantly and enjoying every minute. I haven't blogged in a while, so I'm going to combine a bunch into this one.
First off......SWIMMING LESSONS!!
This was Jaxon's first time hitting the pool without one of us being in there with him. He did so well!!! In the first 5 minutes of the first lesson, the teacher had them on their stomachs doing front floats, faces in the water and all!! I think he just did a lot better since it wasn't me teaching him. Funny how that works..

Gotta love the shark goggles!!

Maddie has taken several sessions of swimming over the last couple of years. She now has graduated to the AB1 (Advanced Beginner 1) level. She is doing front and back stroke across the entire length of the pool from the shallow end to the diving board end. They are learning how to dive, and focusing on their side breathing. She was really surprised to see one of her old friends/neighbors, Olivia, in her class this session!!

Her long time buddy, Brian, was also in her class. This one was planned by me and Brian's mom, Deanna.

The 4th of July....
Originally, Collin had a baseball tournament over the 4th weekend so we had planned on staying home. A couple of days before this, the tournament was canceled. We were all bummed, but glad not to have to be stuck in Puyallup if we didn't want to be. Collin was in the Spokane Hoopfest the weekend before, so I think he was glad to take a weekend off, too. We had received an invite to go to the Gagnon cabin for the day, but at the last minute decided not to. The thought of leaving Hoodsport and driving home at midnight didn't sound fun. So, instead we stayed home. We started out with a little golf at High Cedars on the driving range. We've taken the kids there before, but this time we noticed Maddie had really picked up the game. (More on that later.) After that, Maddie and I drove around for an hour and a half to find the parachute army guys at any fireworks stand in Pierce county. We DID end up finding them and bought them as well as tanks and sparklers. We aren't much of the "big blow-up" sort. We let everyone else on our block do that! All the Nelson boys, John, Jason and Dave, came over along with Ruth, Jason's wife, to watch the crazy show over Lake Tapps and in our neighborhood. With only a few mishaps and no casualties we had a great time!! If you've never been around here for the 4th or New Years, it becomes a war zone!! People actually launch fireworks from their boats and one family has a show that is seriously fairground quality. It's amazing!!

Since then, we've spent several days in our little pool as well as friends' pools.

Jaxon and Julia his cousin, being goofy.

Shark girl and Froggy boy!!!

They loved playing their version of checkers on this giant towel!!

My tough boys!

Swimming at the Bastrons
Last night was so great. The weather was perfect so Collin and Jaxon decided they wanted to sleep in the tent on the trampoline. To my complete surprise, they did great!! I really thought Jaxon would freak out at some point, or Collin would get frustrated with him for kicking him in the head or something. But NO!! It went great!! Of course they were awake by 6:00 since the sun is up so soon, but they had a great time!

We've been busy almost every day!! Next week VBS and Seattle Baseball Academy camp for Collin. Then back to swimming and golf!!
I LOVE THE SUMMER!!!
